Straith Hospital opens pain management center: 5 key points

Straith Hospital for Special Surgery in Southfield, Mich., is opening a pain management center, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.

1. The center will focus on interventional procedures and physical therapy instead of medication management.

 

2. Straith Hospital’s pain management center is expected to generate 1,300 procedures and $1.5 million in revenues over its first year of operation.

 

3. Michael Drelles, DO, an anesthesiologist, will be the medical director of the pain management center.

 

4. The four-room pain management center is still under construction, but Dr. Drelles has already begun seeing patients there.

 

5. The hospital estimates pain center costs will hit $100,000. The pain center is expected to open in early September.
