Scott & White Memorial Hospital breaks ground on new surgical sciences facility: 5 highlights

Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, commenced construction on a surgical sciences facility.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. The new facility will increase the hospital’s operating room suites from 26 to 32.

 

2. The surgical sciences building will house 10 operating room suites, each encompassing 750 square feet.

 

3. The facility will also feature an external entrance, private day surgery rooms, post-anesthesia care units and advanced instrument processing for complex procedures.

 

4. The OR suites will be equipped with robotic, diagnostic and monitoring tools. Surgeons will use real-time imaging to perform complex neurosurgery, spine surgery and peripheral nerve surgery. The technology will enable surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures, as well.

 

5. It is expected to open in the summer of 2018.
