The Somerville, N.J.-based hospital wants to create an orthopedic center with 35 inpatient rooms and a rehabilitation gym. The new orthopedic space would also free up space to convert patient rooms in the hospital to private rooms.

The expansion would also include a 10-bed rapid decision unit for emergency department patients and reduce wait times. A zoning board is expected to review the proposal March 16.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
