Rothman Orthopaedics to exit Highmark network in Pennsylvania

Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedics will be out of network with Highmark Blue Shield and Federal Employee Program plans for care provided in Pennsylvania, effective Oct. 1.

The change does not apply to appointments in New Jersey, where Rothman Orthopaedics will remain in network. All other Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans will also remain in network, including IBX and Horizon, according to a Sept. 10 news release shared with Becker’s

Rothman Orthopaedics will continue accepting out-of-network benefits where available. The practice said patients with Highmark Blue Shield or FEP plans should contact their plan to confirm coverage, out-of-network benefits and potential cost-sharing.

Rothman Orthopaedics said it will continue discussions with Highmark toward restoring in-network access for Highmark members.
