Researchers polled 3,480 U.S. physicians from across 25 specialty areas for the survey.
The top 10 specialties that reported the highest percentages of lawsuits, according to the report, were:
1. Internal Medicine — 15 percent reported lawsuits.
2. Family Medicine — 13 percent reported lawsuits.
3. OB-GYN — 9 percent reported lawsuits.
4. Psychiatry — 8 percent reported lawsuits.
5. Cardiology — 6 percent reported lawsuits.
6. Gastroenterology — 6 percent reported lawsuits.
7. Pediatrics — 5 percent reported lawsuits.
8. Emergency Medicine — 4 percent reported lawsuits.
9. Oncology — 4 percent reported lawsuits.
10. Anesthesiology — 3 percent reported lawsuits.
