Physicians Least Likely to Choose the Same Specialty Again: 5 Statistics

 
Internal medicine physicians are least likely to choose their specialty again, according to the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2014.

The report includes responses from more than 24,000 physicians in 25 specialties.

 
When asked if they would choose their own specialty again if they had the chance, physicians in these five specialties were least likely to do so:

 

•    Internal medicine — 27 percent
•    Family medicine — 32 percent
•    Pulmonary medicine — 40 percent
•    Nephrology — 43 percent
•    OB/GYN & Women’s health — 43 percent
