Around 20 percent of medical practices use medical scribes to enter physician notes into an electronic health record system, according to Physician Practices’ 2014 Technology Survey, sponsored by Kareo.

•    Say their EHR has proper security measures to secure protected health information — 91.4 percent
•    Use medical scribes to enter physician notes — 20.9 percent
•    Are members of a health information exchange — 18.3 percent
•    Have a mobile-accessible EHR system — 74.8 percent
•    Use a cloud-based EHR, paying a regular fee — 38.5 percent
