AMGA released its AMGA 2017 Medical Group Executive and Leadership Compensation Survey. The group noted that demographics of the survey continue to change, but that it did not affect the overall results. The survey included data from 55 medical groups totaling 1,300 incumbents.
Here are five key statistics.
1. Physician CEO cash compensation rose 7.5 percent while non-physician CEO compensation experienced an 11.1 percent increase.
2. COO cash compensation also saw a dramatic increase of 7.2 percent.
3. Here are the median earned bonus to base ratios:
• Physician CEO: 4.5 percent increase
• Non-physician CEO: 4.9 percent increase
• CFO: 3.9 percent increase
• COO: 6.9 percent increase
4. Here are the supplemental executive retirement plan prevalence statistics:
• Physician CEO: 21 percent increase
• Non-physician CEO: 19 percent increase
• CFO: 8 percent increase
• COO: 4 percent increase
5. Thirty-seven percent of respondents represent independent groups, with 73 percent of incumbents from groups of more than 100 full-time physicians.
