The milestone comes at a time of great change in healthcare, when many orthopedic groups are consolidating, selling or partnering with larger hospital groups.

Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania is now the only independent orthopedic group in Harrisburg, Pa., according to the report.

“Our staff and providers are very service-oriented, and that has been our philosophy for 50 years,” CEO Will Thompson told the publication. “When we decide to add a physician to the group, we make sure that he or she is not only a good doctor, but a good person. Yes, they are experts in the field, but our physicians are also personable and truly care about the patients they treat.”

The practice has 28 physicians and seven locations, including an ASC, according to its website.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
