Pennsylvania hospital’s spine surgery program earns BCBS distinction for 5th straight year

The spine surgery program at Johnstown, Pa.-based Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center was named a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, reports The Tribune-Democrat.

This is the fifth consecutive year that CMMC received the accreditation, which is part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.

The program recognizes centers that provide quality outcomes for patients, based on a set of objective measures.

Designated facilities are typically 20 percent more cost-effective per episode of care compared to other centers.
