Pennsylvania hospital designated hip, knee replacement Center of Excellence

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Medical Center has been recognized as a hip and knee replacement Center of Excellence, according to a July 22 news release.

Four things to know:

1. Population health management company Health Design Plus awarded the designation under its Employers Centers of Excellence Network.

2. To be accredited, hospitals must demonstrate superior clinical outcomes and patient experience, compared to other facilities.

3. Hospital providers offer bundled payment programs and waive patient contributions such as deductibles and copays.

4. Geisinger Medical Center also received the ECEN designation for its spine, cardiac and bariatric programs.
