Penn Spine & Orthopedics adds laser surgery

Philadelphia-based Penn Spine & Orthopedics added minimally invasive laser techniques, according to an Aug. 22 news release.

Laser spine surgery uses light beams to create incisions and is recommended for patients with chronic pain where fusion isn’t the main treatment option, multiple affected vertebrae and those who don’t need surrounding tissue manipulated. 

The technique is an outpatient procedure, allows for quicker recovery and lowers overall costs.
