PELTO Health Partner’s unique approach to supporting independent practices

Since its formation in 2023, PELTO Health Partners has kept private practices as a top priority. This year the organization started a new program to further support its members and other physician groups nationwide.

In February, PELTO began offering advisory services that range from project management to offering executive expertise. Areas PELTO advisory services address include brand strategy, ASC development, human resources and supply chain management, according to its website.

PELTO’s advisory services are designed to support the unique needs of different practices, Rachel Uzlik, the organization’s CEO, told Becker’s

“For instance, not every group needs a full time chief marketing officer, not every group needs a full time CHRO or CIO or CFO,” Ms. Uzlik said. “PELTO has pulled together a unique framework called fractional executive leadership through our advisory services, in which it’s talent that we have available to deploy out to independent position practices within certain specialties that can flex with the demand of a group.”

All member practices of PELTO have used fractional leadership, and the advisory services are open to all independent physician practices. Fractional leadership doesn’t take any ancillary resources, benefits or additional costs from the practice, said Ms. Uzlik, who also serves PELTO in a fractional capacity.

“We found that deploying these resources and vetting these resources into the practice is incredibly beneficial and creates great results,” Ms. Uzlik said. “However, we also recognize that project-based work might be needed, like ASC development or maybe Board Advisory leadership development, comp, plan analysis or design. We recognize there’s still project-based needs that are out there and might be an entry point for advisory services. So we can still do project-based scopes of work, but we can also step in and still avoid a gap of capability on the leadership team as well.”

Although membership isn’t required for independent physician groups to receive PELTO’s advisory services, it can be a stepping stone toward partnership.

“I think it’s going to be a natural evolution that as our fractional executive leaders deploy into the practices, they’re going to find a lot of opportunity that ladders up to savings that PELTO can bring to the table. Not in every case is PELTO right for all of the groups, but through our consulting or advisory services with fractional leadership, I think there’s going to be a nice entry place for the group, should they desire it.”

PELTO, which has its roots in orthopedics, also has its advisory services open to all speciality groups.
