A strong sense of personal responsibility and taking care of staff has helped orthopedic surgeon David Bailie, MD, run a successful practice with a cash basis model.

Here are five orthopedic practice openings happening in the South that Becker's has reported on since Aug. 13:

Houston-based Fondren Orthopedic received a $25.6 million jury verdict in a breach of contract case against HCA Healthcare, the practice's attorneys said. 

Athens (Ga.) Orthopedic Clinic has opened a 23,600-square-foot facility in Greensboro, Ga., according to a Sept. 5 report from the Lake Oconee Breeze.

Delta (Colo.) Health has added Delta Orthopedic, a local clinic owned by surgeon John Knutson, MD, according to a Sept. 4 report from NBC affiliate KKCO.

Ensemble Orthopedics has opened a surgical training facility in Austin, Texas, to conduct surgical training workshops focused on Ensemble's minimally invasive joint replacements for the hand and wrist. 

David Bailie, MD, runs a practice built on his own reputation with no ancillary revenue streams, and limited insurance contracts. He's been doing this for a decade and is thriving.

The Orthopedic Clinic based in Daytona Beach, Fla., opened a new facility in the city, according to a Sept. 2 news release.

Lynchburg-based OrthoVirginia is closing locations in Midlothian and Richmond, Va., and relocating to a new facility in Westchester, Va., according to an Aug. 29 LinkedIn post. 

Ochsner Lafayette (La.) General Medical Center has broken ground on an expansion that will convert Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Center into an orthopedic and sports medicine facility, according to an Aug. 29 report from The Acadiana Advocate.
