Here are three things to know:
1. The gift will create The Belford Center for Spinal Cord Injury at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in collaboration with OSU’s Neurological Institute.
2. The Belford Center will focus on treating SCI as a systemic disease to manage complications. Additionally, OSU will establish a current-use fund to support the center’s mission, two endowed chairs in SCI and a research innovation endowed fund.
3. The center will be led by:
- Phillip Popovich, PhD, director of the Center for Brain and Spinal Cord Repair and chair of OSU’s neuroscience department
- Dana McTigue, PhD, vice chair of research in the Center of Brain and Spinal Cord Repair and OSU’s neuroscience department
- Jan Schwab, MD, PhD, neurology professor at OSU College of Medicine
