Orthopedic surgeons make moves to prepare for St. Lawrence’s $23M medical complex — 5 points

New York-based St. Lawrence Health System received state department of health approval to open its new $23 million medical complex in Canton, N.Y., according to Watertown Daily Times.

Here are five points:

 

1. Following state approval, orthopedic surgeons and other medical specialists have started to move their services to the new medical campus.

 

2. David Acker, St. Lawrence president and CEO told the Watertown Daily Times the medical facility makes the “largest concentration of orthopedic and sports medicine specialists available in St. Lawrence County within reach of the majority of the population.”

 

3. A certified hand therapist will see patients in a hand therapy suite beginning Jan. 9, 2017.

 

4. Providers will also offer services such as allergy and immunology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, head and neck surgery as well as rheumatology.

 

5. St. Lawrence had initial plans to offer ambulatory surgeries in the new campus. However, federal regulations impeded these plans, leading the health system to forgo its ASC pursuits.
