Orthopedic Residents Feel Less Prepared After Limiting On-Duty Hours

Training orthopedic surgeons say shorter hours during residency means they are less tired, but also less prepared for their own practice, according to a Fox News report.

A 2003 policy limited on-duty hours for residents to 80 per week with further updates in 2011 to limit fatigue. However, a new study shows that residents aren’t actually sleeping more and they feel less prepared and less satisfied with the experience, according to the report.
