Orthopedic cases lead ASC specialties in revenue per case — 5 key notes

In its 2016 Intellimarker study, VMG highlights orthopedic surgery’s prominent and high-earning role in ASCs.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Of the ASCs participating in VMG’s study, 16 percent of the cases were orthopedics.

2. On average, participating ASCs’ net revenue per orthopedic case was $3,222.

3. Orthopedics was listed as the highest-paying ASC specialty.

4. Otolaryngology placed second on the list of highest-paying specialties, bringing in an average of $2,492 per case. Urology finished third on the list with average net revenue of $2,394 per case.

5. The mean for orthopedic revenue per case is $3,452, while ASCs in the 25th percentile reported $2,466 revenue per case on average. For ASCs at the 50th percentile, revenue for orthopedics cases is $3,222; ASCs at the 75th percentile reported $4,108; and ASCs at the 90th percentile reported $5,082 net revenue per case.
