Schaumburg, Ill.-based Barrington Orthopedic Specialists joined OrthoMidwest as a third independent division, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

OrthoMidwest first aggregated as an entity between OrthoIllinois and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in 2023. Under the divisional structure, each group remains autonomous while collaborating on best practices and shared efficiencies.

“We undertook this decision to help secure our future as an independent practice for the benefit of our patients,” said Rik Baier, CEO at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists. “The aggregation under OrthoMidwest further supports our mission to retain focus on best-in-class orthopedic care, efficiently adapt state of-the-art treatments and processes, and becoming a strategic partner as payer network strategies continue to change.”

Barrington Orthopedic Specialists will maintain its current 16 surgeons and four locations while operating as Barrington Orthopedic Specialists, a division of OrthoMidwest.

The group, founded in 1980, has clinic locations in Schaumburg, Bartlett and Buffalo Grove. Its physicians and surgeons focus on hip, knee, sports medicine, spine and general orthopedic care.
