The practice was founded by Richard Leighton, MD, in 2006, the report said. He is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic joint surgery and total joint replacements.

Novant Health added two other practices in January: Mount Pleasant, S.C.-based Southeastern Spine Institute and Raleigh, N.C.-based Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine.
