Lake Success, N.Y.-based Nkrumah Neurosurgery & Spine received approval from the Village of Mineola Board of Trustees to open a new flagship location in Mineola, N.Y.
Led by founder Louis Nkrumah, MD, PhD, the site will serve as the primary consultation and administrative center for the growing practice, which provides advanced spine and neurological care across the region, according to a Nov. 12 system news release.
Surgical procedures will continue to be performed at the group’s affiliated hospitals, including Roslyn, N.Y.-based St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center and Huntington (N.Y.) Hospital.
The expansion also includes local engagement initiatives, with plans to offer health seminars, participate in school events and provide physicals for first responders. The practice intends to host student shadowing programs and promote early detection of spinal and neurological conditions through community outreach, according to the release.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
