New Atrium Health institute focuses on musculoskeletal care: 3 details

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health opened a musculoskeletal institute to provide orthopedic, sports medicine and spine care under one system, according to Charlotte Business Journal.

Here are three things to know:

1. Claude Moorman III, MD, was chosen to lead the new institute. Dr. Moorman currently serves as the endowed chair of Atrium’s orthopedic surgery department.

2. In addition to Atrium, the institute’s physicians also come from Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates and OrthoCarolina, both based in Charlotte.

3. The musculoskeletal institute’s surgeons perform more than 25,000 surgeries annually.
