Nebraska hospital to open brain, spine center

North Platte, Neb.-based Great Plains Health will open its brain and spine center June 22, becoming the first hospital to offer cranial neurosurgery services in the region, The North Platte Telegraph reports.

What you should know:

1. Great Plains Health hired W. Lee Warren, MD, to lead the new center.

2. The health system decided to launch its neurosurgery program after speaking with Dr. Warren.

3. The clinic will be built in an old patient tower, which will also restore the tower in the process.

4. While primarily focusing on brain surgery, Dr. Warren also specializes in spine procedures and will perform them at Great Plains as well.
