Here are five highlights:
1. In his new role, Dr. Lopez heads the plan’s medical strategy, clinical direction and quality improvement.
2. The plan provides care for MO HealthNet Managed Care members enrolled in Missouri Care, a subsidiary of Tampa, Fla.-based WellCare Health Plans.
3. Dr. Lopez previously served as CMO of Cottonwood Heights-based Molina Healthcare of Utah. He also founded Draper, Utah-based Hidden Valley Family Medicine and served as president and CEO.
4. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lopez is an innovator; he invented the “Smart Bed,” which control fluid and inflation of an inflatable mattress to prevent ulcer formation.
5. Dr. Lopez completed his postdoctoral fellowship in orthopedic surgery at Salt Lake City-based University of Utah, and is board certified in family medicine.
