Michigan system plans $21M orthopedic surgery center — 5 details

Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Bronson Healthcare has a $21 million orthopedic surgery center in the pipeline, according to M Live.

What you should know:

1. Bronson Healthcare is pursuing the project to accommodate a 15 percent increase in surgical volume over the last five years.

2. An estimated 5,400 orthopedic cases each year will be shifted from the hospital’s operating room to the surgery center.

3. The 18,000-square-foot surgery center is expected to shorten inpatient and outpatient wait times.

4. It will feature four operating rooms dedicated to general orthopedics, total joint replacement and neurosurgery, as well as spine, hand and sports medicine procedures.

5. Construction is slated to begin this spring and wrap up in late 2021.
