Another 500 practices are currently using Merge legacy technology and plan to upgrade to OrthoPACS in 2013, according to a company news release. The company has seen rapid adoption of the new technology, which was released last year.
Merge OrthoPACS is designed for orthopedic surgeons to access images taken at multiple locations in a single viewer, diagnose from anywhere, plan surgery with digital templating and securely archive studies.
“For us, the most important thing was the underlying technology and our ability to quickly and smoothly upgrade,” said Taylor Mawyer, IT Manager for OrthoVirginia, which recently upgraded to Merge OrthoPACS.
