Mayo Clinic plans $70M expansion — 4 notes

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has announced a $70 million upgrade to its facilities in Mankato, according to the Star Tribune.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. A $65 million surgical suite and a new gastrointestinal endoscopy center are among the planned construction projects.

 

2. An additional $5 million will double the orthopedic and sports medicine clinic’s size to include 20 rooms and will add on-site radiology services and a minor procedure room.

 

3. The $70 million expansion comes at a time when impending legislative action may cause many healthcare organizations to pull back their capital spending.

 

4. Mayo Clinic posted a $341 million net income on $8.15 billion in revenue over the first three quarters of 2016.
