1. Previously, the Mayo Clinic used Cerner and General Electric systems.
2. The transition will not be complete until October 2018, with transitions in Minnesota expected in November 2017.
3. The completed system will handle the flow of patient information, billing and consolidated patient statements.
4. Most of the $1.5 billion is estimated to go toward Mayo staff for design input and configurations. The clinic plans to train 51,000 employees across all locations.
5. Timothy Johnson, Mayo Clinic health system’s regional vice president, said, “It is a whole technology information system upgrade that includes the revenue cycle, network upgrades [and] security upgrades.”
