Massena Memorial Hospital to Purchase Seaway Orthopedics for $2.95M

The Board of Directors at Massena (New York) Memorial Hospital approved a $1.9 million loan agreement to go toward the purchase of Seaway Orthopedics for a total of $2.95 million, including equipment, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.

After the purchase is complete, the hospital will own the building but Bedros Bakirtzian, MD, will continue to practice as a private doctor, rather than a hospital employee.

The board decided to take out the loan while interest rates are low rather than further depleting the hospital’s reserve funds.
