MSOs mapping out growth in 2022

Practice Management

Management service organizations plan to sprawl across the U.S. in 2022 with new orthopedic deals.

In its first deal of 2022, Spire Orthopedic Partners added practices in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The practices — Middletown, Conn.-based Middlesex Orthopedic Surgeons and Chelmsford, Mass.-based Orthopaedic Surgical Associates — have a combined 21 physicians.

OrthoAlliance kicked off 2022 with a partnership in Ohio. The addition of New Albany, Ohio-based JIS Orthopedics brought eight physicians to the group.

Another MSO, U.S. Orthopaedic Partners, aims to double in size in 2022 and expand its footprint in the Southeast and Midwest. Currently, the MSO has 22 locations across Mississippi and Alabama.

In Texas, a new MSO called Novum Orthopedics formed at the end of 2021. Currently, it has partnerships with Arlington (Texas) Orthopedic Associates, Abilene (Texas) Sports Medicine & Orthopedics and Waxahachie (Texas) Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

"Each of the practices has built leading cultures including a strong commitment to clinical quality, which provides a strong foundation from which to pursue future growth,” Tom Clayton, partner at A&M Capital Partners, said of Novum in a news release.
