Florida orthopedic practice asked to delay building surgery clinic for 5 years

Practice Management

Tallahassee (Fla.) Orthopedic Clinic has been asked to wait five years to build a planned surgery center, The Dothan Eagle reported Dec. 13.

Marianna City commissioners voted Dec. 7 to modify a proposed memorandum of understanding with the orthopedic practice. Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Fla., raised concerns about the project.

Under terms of the memorandum, Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic would invest at least $6 million to $8 million and retain its current 13 employees for a year past the issuance of a certificate of occupancy for its site, according to the report.

The terms of the memorandum are nonbinding until a contract is carried out by the city, county and company.
