Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Advanced Disc Replacement Spinal Restoration Center is reportedly the first in the state to use the Emsculpt device to strengthen and rehabilitate patients' muscles after injury or pre- or post-surgery.

Three notes:

1. The electromagnetic therapy will be used for patients experiencing weakness related to nerve or muscle injuries, compression due to spinal stenosis, or loss of muscle mass, according to a June 16 news release.

2. Dr. Lanman, founder of the practice, believes the therapy helps patients recover quicker than through physical exercise.

3. Emsculpt can stimulate about 20,000 neuromuscular contractions, which help improve the strength and tone of an individual's muscles, according to the company.
