Missouri merger to form 25-physician orthopedic group 'years in the making'

Practice Management

Leawood. Kan.-based Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants and Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics will merge March 1.

The groups comprise two of the three practices working out of the Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute in Leawood. Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics also has a location in Kansas City, Mo.

The merger has been "a few years in the making," Brian Divelbiss, MD, president of Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics, said in a Dec. 4 news release. "The unification of our practices will allow us to bring together our combined expertise and provide an unmatched offering of orthopedic services to patients across the Kansas City metro area."

"This merger is a huge step, but only a first step," said Jacob Stueve, MD, of Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants, hinting at further expansion plans.

The newly formed group will have more than 120 employees, including 25 physicians.
