Mercy Health-Springfield (Ohio) Regional Medical Center plans to hire specialized orthopedic surgeons after a $1 million investment in its orthopedic and sports medicine program, Dayton Business Journal reports.

Three things to know:

1. The health system is seeking orthopedic surgeons specializing in procedures such as partial hip and knee replacements.

2. Mercy Health-Springfield will also expand its orthopedics, cardiology and oncology services to accommodate patients beyond the communities it currently serves.

3. Expansions to its spine and neuroscience lines will come next.
