Five orthopedic practice mergers and acquisitions involving more than 25 physicians:

1. PeaceHealth in Vancouver, Wash., unveiled plans to acquire Bellingham, Wash.-based Pacific Rim Outpatient Surgery Center, where nearly 60 surgeons perform about 5,000 surgeries a year.

2. Fort Collins, Colo.-based ​​Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies and Longmont, Colo.-based Front Range Orthopedics & Spine signed a definitive agreement June 9 to merge practices. The combined group will feature more than 85 providers, including 45 physicians. About 600 staff members will be employed at eight clinical locations.

3. Tampa-based Florida Orthopaedic Institute and Clearwater-based OrthoCare Florida combined to form a supergroup with 150 providers and 17 locations in the Tampa Bay area. Florida Orthopaedic Institute lists more than 40 physicians on its website.

4. Sharonville, Ohio-based Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine acquired Cincinnati-based Reconstructive Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine July 31 and agreed to retain its nearly 100 employees, including seven physicians. Beacon Orthopaedics already had 550 employees and 27 physicians.

5. Orlando (Fla.) Health acquired one of the area's largest independent orthopedic practices, Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic in Orlando, for an undisclosed sum. Jewet's 25 orthopedic physicians and 13 advanced practitioners became health system employees.
