Yale New Haven (Conn.) Hospital in May received more than $114.7 million in federal funding to offset losses incurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Haven Independent reports.

Three things to know:

1. The funding was awarded as part of two grants through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act and the Paycheck Protection Program.

2. YNHH is one of five hospitals that make up Yale New Haven Health, which is estimated to be losing $1.5 million a day during the pandemic, according to NHI.

3. In April, the hospital gained approval to build an $838 million neuroscience facility that will research diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and strokes.
