Northwest Orthopaedic Associates in Chicago recently received $143,000 in federal funding to offset revenue losses from the suspension of elective surgeries, Chicago Business Journal reports.

The funding is provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, through which HHS is allocating $50 billion to help healthcare providers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Providers must apply for payments, which are based on the amount of revenue lost during the pandemic.

Topping the CARES Act funding list of recipients in Chicago are Rush University Medical Center with $37.1 million, the University of Chicago Medical Center with $35.9 million and Northwestern Memorial Hospital with $26.7 million.
