Colorado hospital 1st in state to offer minimally invasive hip replacement technique

Practice Management

HCA Healthcare's Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo., is reportedly the first hospital in the state to offer a new portal-assisted total hip replacement technique, reports Benzinga.

The anterior technique uses a cannula to prepare and replace the damaged hip socket and helps reduce the risk of nerve injury.

Joseph Assini, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, is one of the five developers of the technique, which results in smaller incisions, quicker healing and fewer complications.
