UPMC Children's opening orthopedic urgent care center — 4 insights

Pittsburgh-based UPMC Children's will open a pediatric orthopedic urgent care center at its Lawrenceville, Pa.-based location in early 2020, the Pittsburgh Business Times reports.

What you should know:

1. The urgent care center will be on the hospital's second floor.

2. Physicians will treat minor musculoskeletal injuries that don't require emergency services.

3. The clinic will begin seeing patients Jan. 6.

4. UPMC Children's Hospital's pediatric orthopedic surgeons will staff the clinic, along with nurses, medical assistants and radiologists for several months. Eventually, orthopedic nurse practitioners will staff the clinic on a full-time basis.
