Here are 19 health systems expanding spine and neurosurgery services in 2019:

1. Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Healthcare signed a letter of intent to buy St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio, and develop a new orthopedic, spine and neuro facility.

2. Lumberton, N.C.-based Southeastern Health opened a multispecialty clinic, which offers neurosurgery and orthopedic services

3. Morristown, N.J.-based Altair Health opened locations in Bridgewater, Morristown and Florham Park in New Jersey this year. The spine-focused system plans to open another facility at the Jersey Shore during the third quarter of 2020.

4. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HonorHealth broke ground on the Neuroscience Institute in Scottsdale. The center, opening in spring 2021, will treat patients for spine and neuro-related conditions.

5. Indianapolis-based American Health Network broke ground on a new multispecialty facility that will provide spine and orthopedic services. About 50 physicians will be relocated to the center, which is set for completion in late 2020.

6. Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare broke ground on the Emory Musculoskeletal Institute in Brookhaven, Ga. The facility will provide spine, orthopedics and imaging services.

7. Indianapolis-based Goodman Campbell Brain & Spine and Ascension St. Vincent Health signed a letter of intent to expand neurosurgical care at two hospitals in the city.

8. Medical City Dallas opened a spine hospital in October. The facility offers treatment for common spine disorders, as well as complex spinal deformities such as scoliosis and spondylolisthesis.

9. Boston-based Brigham Health opened Brigham and Women's Health Care Center in Pembroke, Mass. The facility provides specialty care services, including neurosurgery and orthopedics.

10. Nashville, Tenn.-based Ascension Saint Thomas is planning a $48 million facility expanding spine, orthopedic and neuroscience services.

11. Bay City, Mich.-based McLaren Bay Region opened a medical facility in Midland, Mich. The center features a multispecialty suite providing neurosurgery, spine and orthopedic services.

12. Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem opened a spine and orthopedic hospital in Skokie, Ill. The institute provides outpatient and inpatient treatments.

13. Maryville, Ill.-based Anderson Healthcare is building a hospital in Edwardsville, Ill., which will provide spine and orthopedic services. The hospital will open in the fall of 2021.

14. Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health opened a spine and orthopedics office in Supply, N.C.

15. Boardman, Ohio-based Southwoods Health opened a Pain & Spine Center. Physicians treat a range of conditions, including neck and back pain, herniated discs and compression fractures.

16. Baptist Health South Florida in South Miami broke ground on a wellness and medical center featuring a spine clinic in Plantation, Fla.

17. Dayton, Ohio-based Premier Health's Orthopedic Spine Center is opening an office in Centerville, Ohio.

18. New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health opened a $13.5 million spine and orthopedic hospital at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream in North Valley Stream, N.Y.

19. The MemorialCare Neuroscience Institute opened at Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills, Calif. The center features a unit for spine surgery and provides care for strokes, tumors, as well as spine and brain disorders.
