Here are seven health systems expanding with new spine and orthopedic facilities.
On Sept. 12, Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health broke ground on a new $714 million facility that will include a 50-bed orthopedic center and 50-bed ICU. The 530,000-square-foot facility is set for completion in 2022.
Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health opened a new orthopedic urgent care center in Duluth on Sept. 3. The facility provides immediate orthopedic treatment for patients age 12 and older and is accepting walk-in patients.
New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System is opening Ochsner Hospital for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Elmwood, La., on Sept 24. The hospital features six ORs, an overnight recover space with 15 private rooms and 22 pre- and post-procedural rooms.
Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine unveiled a $13.8 million outpatient clinic in Waynesburg, Pa., Sept. 13. The health system is also building a 15,000-square-foot clinic with an urgent care center to provide orthopedic care among other services to the area.
Boston-based Brigham Health opened Brigham and Women's Health Care Center in Pembroke, Mass., on Sept. 3. The 30,000-square-foot facility provides specialty care series including neurosurgery, orthopedics and general surgery.
Nashville, Tenn.-based Ascension Saint Thomas will build a $48 million facility, replacing the acute rehab unit at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. The new facility will expand spine, orthopedic and neuroscience services. It is a joint venture between Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health — who will have 51 percent ownership — and Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare.
Bay City, Mich.-based McLaren Bay Region opened a new medical facility in Midland, Mich. The 55,800-square-foot center features a multispecialty suite providing neurosurgery, spine and orthopedic services. McLaren Health Care in Grand Blanc, Mich., now operates 13 hospitals in the state.
