New Jersey rehab center opens, focuses on spinal cord injury and orthopedics

Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System and Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare opened Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute in Madison, N.J., reports Tap Into.

Three insights:

1. The $24 million, 46,000-square-foot inpatient rehab center features 38 beds.

2. It provides assisted movement systems from Ekso Bionics that help patients regain movement in their arms following spinal cord injury, orthopedic surgery, multiple sclerosis and stroke among other conditions.

3. The center will start accepting patients in the coming weeks after regulatory approvals are finalized.

"This new hospital gives our team all the tools they need to care better for our patients and gives patients the setting they need to prepare them to return to their lives," said Joseph Rempson, MD, medical director at ARI.
