Rush University Medical Center names new $450M specialty center after donors

Practice Management

Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center is building a $450 million outpatient cancer and neurosciences center on its main campus, Crain's Chicago Business reports.

What you should know:

1. Rush is naming the outpatient center after longtime hospital donors Joan and Paul Rubschlager, after the couple made the largest single donation in Rush history.

2. The under-construction Joan and Paul Rubschlager Building, a 10-story, 480,000-square-foot building, will be the hospital's largest outpatient facility and among its most specialized.

3. The Rubschlagers are cancer survivors and entrepreneurs. They are the former owners of Rubschlager Baking.

4. Rush expects to open the building in 2022.
