California surgery center plans expansion to meet outpatient demand – 4 details

Marin Specialty Surgery Center in Greenbrae, Calif., has leased a 17,280 square foot space in San Rafael, Calif., to expand and meet growing outpatient demands, reports North Bay Business Journal.

Four things to know:

1. Marin Specialty Surgery Center has been operating out of a 5,000-square-foot facility in Greenbrae, Calif., for the last 15 years and focuses on orthopedic, urology and podiatry procedures.

2. The new center will provide further orthopedic procedures such as total joint arthroplasty and spine surgery. The group expects to occupy the new facility in late 2019.

3. Marin Specialty Surgery Center physicians and surgeons complete about 3,375 procedures annually out of its two operating rooms and one procedure room and expects to increase procedure volume with three operating rooms in the new facility.

4. Ownership of the facility consists of approximately 20 physicians, as well as general partners Marin General Hospital in Kentfield, Calif., and Surgical Care Affiliates in Deerfield, Ill., which operates over 210 ASCs and surgical hospitals nationwide.
