Practice Management

A $40 million spine and stroke center in Buffalo, N.Y., will open later this year and aims to reduce the number of spine surgeries in the region and help patients manage pain without opioid medications, The Buffalo News reports.

Four things to know:

1. The massive project will unite University of Buffalo Neurosurgery, Dent Neurologic Institute, N.Y., and other related practices.

2. The new center will provide neurological services and advanced diagnostic imaging.

3. The goal is to improve evidence-based, comprehensive treatment for back-, spine- and stroke-related conditions, movement disorders and pain management.

4. The 60,000-square-foot multidisciplinary outpatient center will open this summer and feature radiology, neurology, rehab medicine, chiropractic and pain medicine clinics.
