Work on Concord (N.H.) Hospital's $56 million medical office building is progressing, the Concord Monitor reports.

What you should know:

1. Concord (N.H.) Orthopaedics is building a surgery center on the medical office building's main floor.

2. Once the building and surgery center open, Concord will close its nearby standalone surgery center.

3. The new surgery center will allow Concord Orthopaedics to increase patient capacity.

4. The other three floors of the medical office building will house physicians' offices. Concord Orthopaedics will share the ground floor with an eye specialist.

5. Concord Hospital CEO Bob Steigmeyer said, "We need more outpatient ambulatory services and we have got to build the capacity necessary to do that, as part of a transition over time, with new technology and facilities. It is a market that’s growing."
