Medical City Dallas purchased a vacant healthcare facility in Dallas it plans to spend $92 million on to convert into a heart and spine hospital, The Dallas Morning News reports.

What you should know:

1. Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital will be across the street from the health system's Dallas campus.

2. Medical City's parent company, HCA Healthcare in Irving, Texas, bought the facility in 2016. It has sat empty since then.

3. The spine facility will have 24 private patient rooms, while the heart facility will have 63 private patient rooms, and a cardiac-focused emergency room.

4. Medical City Chief Executive Chris Mowan said, "We believe specialized care provides better outcomes, shorter length of stays and better patient experience."
