The Surgical Center of Greensboro (N.C.) performed 250 total joint procedures in 2018, which was the first year of the ASC’s total knee replacement bundle program.
Four things to know:
1. When the bundle was announced in 2017, Steve Lucey, MD, anticipated the ASC would perform 200 total joints in the first year.
2. According to Dr. Lucey, payers are interested in the bundle if surgeons can save 15 percent to 20 percent per case.
3. The 61,000-square-foot ASC has 13 operating rooms and two procedure rooms. The multispecialty ASC serves 16,000 patients annually.
4. Surgical Center of Greensboro has 34 orthopedic surgeons.
