Practice Management

Elizabeth, N.J.-based Trinitas Regional Medical Center earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for disease-specific certification for total hip and total knee replacement.

This is the second consecutive year the medical center received the certification.

Three things to know:

1. Trinitas underwent an onsite survey by Joint Commission officials in 2016. The Joint Commission evaluated the hospital's compliance with disease-specific care standards for total hip and total knee replacement, including pre- and postoperative patient education, patient safety, infection prevention and patient monitoring post-discharge.

2. The disease-specific certification was established in 2016 in response to the growing number of total hip and total knee replacement surgery patients. It is awarded for a two-year period.

3. Trinitas Regional Medical Center is a teaching hospital with 554 beds, including a 120-bed long-term care center.
