Spine nonprofit visits Missouri due to lack of specialists: 3 notes

Practice Management

Spinal cord injury nonprofit SLICE took a trip to Springfield, Mo., to hear stories from community members who are suffering due to the lack of caregivers, according to Ozarks First.

Three notes:

1. Without spine specialists and caregivers, community members are seeing a decline in life quality. At Southwest Center for Independent Living in Springfield, many patients are unable to get out of bed because of the lack of caregivers.

2. "We're having a lack or shortage of qualified certified nursing assistant caregivers to work with our individuals that are trying to live independently outside of facilities," SLICE Executive Director Andrew Smith told Ozarks First.

3. SLICE visited the community to discuss solutions to combat the lack of caregivers.
